The Estoril Wastewater Treatment Plant, designed to serve the equivalent of 720,000 people, is one of the main wastewater infrastructure projects developed along the Portuguese coastline near Lisbon.
The main treatment plant was constructed underground within a rock excavation, minimising visual impact in a sensitive coastal environment. The system incorporates advanced treatment processes, thermal sludge drying and energy recovery through biogas generation
