The project involves the construction of a 3.09-mile high-speed rail platform forming part of the Bobadilla–Granada High-Speed Line, designed for double track and operating speeds of up to 186 mph. The alignment runs entirely within the municipality of Loja.

The main feature of the section is the Quejigares Tunnel, which accounts for nearly 70% of the total project length. The tunnel comprises two parallel tubes, each accommodating a single track, with a clear cross-sectional area of 592 sq ft, excluding track and platforms. The tunnel runs beneath the A-92 motorway and has a length of 11,030 ft in the right-hand tube and 11,086 ft in the left-hand tube.

The project also features three viaducts, including the Arroyo de la Viñuela Viaduct, a 1,129 ft structure made up of 10 spans, designed to cross the watercourse while ensuring geometric continuity and operational performance of the line.
