Building type
The Canarias II Penitentiary Centre was designed as a comprehensive correctional complex with capacity for 1,008 cells, organised as a self-contained environment incorporating residential, administrative, healthcare, educational and recreational facilities.

The development comprises multiple specialised buildings dedicated to accommodation, security, access control, healthcare, productive workshops, sports facilities, general services and rehabilitation programmes.

From a construction perspective, the project incorporated industrialised solutions through the use of precast walls and cells manufactured on site, together with long-span steel roof structures and systems specifically adapted to the operational and security requirements of the facility.
