The Queensferry Crossing is one of the world’s largest cable-stayed bridges and one of the most significant transport infrastructure projects delivered in the United Kingdom in recent decades.

The project involved the design and construction of a new crossing over the Firth of Forth, increasing capacity and resilience along one of Scotland’s most important road corridors.

The Queensferry Crossing holds the world records for the longest span of a multi-span cable-stayed bridge and the longest span of a composite-deck cable-stayed bridge.

During its construction, the method of crossing the cables at the center of the span was used for the first time to stabilize adjacent cable-stayed spans under alternating loads.

Its construction involved significant challenges such as the fabrication and placement of large-diameter driven caissons, large sheet pile enclosures, the cantilevered lifting of segments using gantry cranes, and the launching of the North and South approaches. The combination of multiple construction methods and the scale of the project make the Queensferry Crossing a world-class infrastructure and a prime example of bridge construction technology.
