The scheme reduces through-traffic in New Ross, enhances road safety and strengthens connectivity between Cork, Rosslare Port and the Atlantic Corridor
A defining feature of the project is the Barrow River Bridge, an 894 m-long extradosed bridge whose 230 m main spans established a world record for a concrete-deck extradosed structure.

During the design stage, an study of layout alternatives, cross section and median barriers was carried out in order to avoid excessive widening of the deck while ensuring compliance with the necessary stopping sight distance.
Delivered under a 30-year concession model, the project further demonstrates DRAGADOS expertise in major highway developments and landmark bridge infrastructure.
