The M7/M8 Portlaoise Motorway delivered 41 km of new motorway infrastructure, completing a high-capacity transport connection between Dublin, Cork and Limerick along two of Ireland’s most important road corridors.
Developed under a concession model, the contract included the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the motorway, together with collector roads, interchanges and associated infrastructure.

The route crosses two environmentally sensitive aquifers, the Waulsortian Dolomite and Ballyadams/Clongrennan Limestone, requiring extensive groundwater protection measures throughout the project lifecycle.

The motorway was completed four months ahead of schedule, further strengthening Dragados’ expertise in motorway concessions and major transport infrastructure programmes.
