The Right Honourable Herb Gray Parkway is a strategic transportation corridor designed to connect Highway 401 with the future Gordie Howe International Bridge, strengthening one of the most important trade routes between Canada and the United States.
Delivered by FlatironDragados as part of a Design-Build Joint Venture, the project included 11 km of depressed six-lane roadway, designed to minimise urban impact while improving cross-border connectivity in the Windsor region.
One of the project’s defining features is the construction of 12 cut-and-cover tunnels providing 1.8 km of covered roadway, enabling the integration of the corridor into the surrounding community while creating extensive green spaces and recreational areas.
At the time of award, the project represented the largest single highway investment in Ontario and the first transportation scheme delivered under the province’s Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP) model.
