The Caruachi Dam and Hydroelectric Power Station, located on the Caroní River, has an installed capacity of 2,160 MW, making it one of the leading hydroelectric developments in Latin America.

The project combines a concrete gravity dam with a hydroelectric power station equipped with 12 Kaplan turbines rated at 180 MW each, which held the world record for size in their category.

The facility also incorporates a spillway capable of discharging 35,000 m³/s and large-scale gates designed to ensure the safe operation of the hydraulic complex
