The Site C Hydroelectric Power Station is located on the Peace River, in northern British Columbia, approximately 6.21 miles from Fort St. John. The overall development of the project has been structured into several contracts, with the civil works for the spillways and the powerhouse awarded to a joint venture in which DRAGADOS participates.

The scope of the contract includes the construction of an outdoor hydroelectric powerhouse and three spillways, two of which are equipped with gates. The hydraulic regulation system comprises six wagon gates and three radial gates, designed to discharge flows at different operating levels.

The power station consists of six generating units, each made up of an intake structure, a steel penstock with a diameter of 33.46 ft and a length of 262.47 ft, incorporating a flexible joint inits central section, and the corresponding powerhouse structure.

 

Owned by BC Hydro, the facility features a total installed capacity of 1,100 MW, generated by six Francis turbines rated at 183 MW each, with an estimated annual production of 5,100 GWh, making it one of the country’s most significant energy infrastructure projects.
