The Route 5 Puerto Montt–Pargua Dual Carriageway involved the widening, upgrading and long-term improvement of more than 50 km of road infrastructure, transforming one of southern Chile’s main transport corridors into a modern dual carriageway with enhanced capacity, safety and operational performance.

The project included the construction of new structures, interchanges and supporting transport infrastructure, improving connectivity between Puerto Montt, Pargua and the wider national road network. The scheme also incorporated lighting, drainage, signage and landscape integration measures throughout the route.

DRAGADOS delivered the works initially through a joint venture in which it held an 80% participation, completing the project within the contractual programme and achieving final commissioning in 2014.

In addition to the original scope, the project incorporated significant design enhancements, including the Carelmapu Bypass and additional connections that further improved corridor performance and regional accessibility.
