The Satellite Building at Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas Airport is the infrastructure designed to concentrate international operations associated with Terminal T4.

The building forms part of the Barajas Master Plan and accommodates departure and arrival passport control facilities through the installation of 58 control booths, with physically segregated boarding and disembarkation flows in accordance with international passenger processing requirements.

Its location between two runways defines the access systems, which are provided via an airport service tunnel connecting the Satellite Building to the main terminal, together with an automated people mover (APM) system with a journey time of approximately four minutes.
The complex is organised around a longitudinal pier measuring 927 x 39 m for passenger boarding and disembarkation, and a central annex measuring 135 x 57 m housing airport processing functions and commercial areas totalling 13,254 m². The building includes areas with one, two or three basement levels, continuous ground and first floors, and a second continuous floor limited to the central zone.

Structurally, the building is based on a 9 x 18 m reinforced concrete column grid, 18 m span prestressed concrete beams and floor systems comprising prefabricated hollow core slabs and solid reinforced concrete slabs of varying thicknesses. The façade is resolved through a tensioned stainless steel curtain wall system, while the roof consists of a steel structure shaped as a “seagull wing”, externally clad in curved aluminium.

A perimeter service road runs alongside the aircraft parking apron, and four vehicular access points provide entry to the basement levels.
