The Ottawa Light Rail Transit project includes a 2,533 m underground section beneath downtown Ottawa, incorporating the Lyon, Parliament and Rideau underground stations

As this is a concession contract, the scope goes beyond the design and construction of the infrastructure and also includes the operation and maintenance of the 12.5 km Confederation Line for a period of 30 years.

The Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) was selected for the execution of the entire underground section. Excavation works were carried out using three heavy-duty Sandvik MT-720 road headers, as the alignment runs through limestone formations.

Crossrail C-305

London, United Kingdom

The Crossrail C305 project was the largest contract awarded within the Crossrail Project and one of the largest infrastructure contracts in Europe at the time. The works involved the construction of twin tunnels lined with precast, fibre-reinforced reinforced concrete segments, using four Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) tunnel boring machines. Excavation was carried out mainly through London Clay formations.

North West Rail Link Sydney

Sydney, Australia

The design and construction contract for the North West Rail Link project in Sydney involved the delivery of one of Australia's most significant metropolitan rail expansions. The project included the construction of two twin tunnels, each 15.5 km long with an internal diameter of 6.17 m, running between the existing Epping station and the new Bella Vista station. In addition, five underground stations were built—Cherrybrook, Castle Hill, Showground, Norwest, and Bella Vista—each with approximate dimensions of 180 m in length and 20 m in width.

Guadarrama Tunnel

Madrid, Spain

With a total length of 28.7 km, the twin-bore Guadarrama Tunnel is the longest railway tunnel in Spain and one of the longest in the world. It was also the first tunnel of this scale to be constructed without intermediate access points, presenting a major technical and logistical challenge. The tunnel reaches a maximum overburden of 992 m beneath Peñalara Peak, while the crossing beneath the River Eresma was completed with a minimum overburden of just 22 m, highlighting the significant variation in ground conditions encountered along the alignment.
