The Escombreras Harbour Expansion created new operational port areas and berthing capacity within one of the most important industrial and energy port facilities in the Spanish Mediterranean.
The project centred on the construction of a 2.25 km breakwater, built using prefabricated caissons at water depths exceeding 50 m, making it one of the most technically demanding maritime developments of its type.

The new breakwater system was developed through three separate alignments surrounding the Escombreras islet, combining vertical structures and rubble mound solutions adapted to local marine conditions.

The expansion increased capacity for industrial and energy-related port traffic while further strengthening Dragados’ expertise in deep-water maritime infrastructure projects.
