The SH-288 project involves the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of 10.25 miles of roadway infrastructure, consisting of two roadways with two carriageways per direction, located within the median of the existing SH-288 corridor, between US-59 and the Harris County boundary at Clear Creek.

The project aims to relieve congestion along the SH-288 corridor and significantly improve access to the Texas MedicalCenter, one of the largest healthcare and employment hubs in the Houston metropolitan area.

The works included the reconstruction of the existing interchange with Interstate Highway IH-610, as well as the widening or reconstruction of numerous overpass and crossing structures along the alignment. The project provides direct access from the toll lanes to the Texas Medical Center and includes the construction of eight direct connectors between SH-288 and the BW-8 beltway, together with the addition of general-purpose lanes on the existing roadways along much of the corridor.

The infrastructure is complemented by the implementation of a fully integrated tolling system and an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), coordinated both internally and with the existing ITS on SH-288, ensuring efficient traffic management and operational performance.
